For the first ten years, Magic By The Slice was exclusively an adult dinner show. I do however believe magic is for everyone!  Heck my love of magic (as well as pizza and cooking for that matter) began when I was a kid.  So I'm excited to now get kids in the kitchen to build their own pizzas and show them the wonder and awe of magic, up close right under their noses!

how it works!

The kids can decorate their own chef aprons as I get the dough ready on the pans. From there - after they wash their hands :) -  I'll divide the kids into pairs or teams to:
  • Slather on the sauce
  • Spread the cheese
  • Toss in some pepperoni if they like
Next Steps:
  1. Pizzas go in the oven and while they bake (about 20 min or so) they'll learn about ingredient quality by tasting two types on mozzarella cheese.  One packaged and pre-shredded and one I shredded right off the block. (what we will be using on their pizzas).
  2. The kids discuss and we hear their preferences (no right or wrong answer here) and then they'll learn the differences between the two.
  3. Now we gather around for some of my favorite close-up slight of hand and comedy magic! 
  4. Magic is followed by them eating their pizza creations and whatever else you have planned, gifts, cake etc.

Do you have an age minimum?
​Yes, 7 years ​

What size pizzas do you make?
I make 12" thin crust pizzas 

Do you make your dough by hand?
No, I make it on the counter by the sink! Actually I finish my dough by hand to be sure I get the exact consistency I want. I can make it from start to finish by hand but stand mixers allow me to make multiple batches at one time.

Do you make your own sauce?
I do indeed!

Do you make gluten free pizza?
Unfortunately no.

Can you do a dairy free version?

Ingredients

I think it's important for you to know what your kids are eating.  Here is a list of ingredients.

Dough
  • All purpose flour
  • Cornmeal
  • Yeast
  • Salt
  • Vegetable oil
  • ​Olive oil
  • Water

Sauce
  • Canned imported Italian tomatoes
  • Dried Organo
  • Dried Basil
  • Salt

Additional ingredients
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese - I shred it from the block because prepackaged usually contains unnecessary extras like cellulose and more.
